Transfer Update: Celtic closing in on deal for Japanese international

Celtic are preparing to make a formal offer for Blackburn Rovers attacker Ryoya Morishita after making late inquiries for the player during the summer window. Initial discussions regarding the 29-year-old Japan international reportedly took place while both clubs were negotiating a loan deal for Reo Hatate, who subsequently moved to Burnley.

Despite Celtic's concrete interest, Blackburn Rovers are currently unwilling to part ways with the player. Morishita, who joined the Championship side in August 2025, remains a valued member of the squad and is under contract with Rovers until June 2028.

The versatile Japanese attacker is currently valued at around €2.00 million according to Transfermarkt. However, with Celtic keen to reinforce their attacking options, it remains to be seen whether a persuasive offer could test Blackburn's resolve in the upcoming transfer period.
