Rangers Sets Sights on First 2026 Signing

Russell Martin is under intense scrutiny following Rangers’ poor start to the season, with several new signings not adapting well to life at Ibrox.

Nasser Djiga has struggled immensely, whilst Emmanuel Fernandez has also been criticised for his limited impact despite costing millions.

However, Rangers are still on the hunt for more talent, with January likely in mind, with Amaury Morales the latest player to be linked with the Ibrox club.

Morales currently plays for Mexican side Cruz Azul, with the 19-year-old winger also able to play in attacking midfield.

Mexican journalist Fabian Reyes posted on X about Rangers’ interest in Morales, and how the Under-20 World Cup will be crucial for his future. He said, “Amaury Morales has sparked the interest of Scotland’s Rangers, who have been following his recent performances.

“This U20 World Cup will be very important for the Cruz Azul player, for now, it has only been an approach.” The U20 World Cup will be held in Chile, and will take place from 27 September to 19 October.

Mexico have been placed in a tough group, and if Morales shines for his country, a move to Ibrox could accelerate. He has six goal contributions in 11 appearances for the U20 squad, whilst he scored two goals for Cruz Azul last season.
