Rangers ‘seal agreement for ELEVENTH summer signing’ as transfer fee, sell-on and timeline revealed
RANGERS are on the brink of signing Nobel Mendy from Real Betis, reports suggest. The 6ft2in Senegalese defender emerged as a transfer target for new boss Russell Martin last week.
But he looked to be on the way to PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands until a visa issue saw the move fall through.
He was also heavily linked with a switch to Rayo Vallecano that would see him stay in Spain, despite having also agreed terms with Gers at the same time.
It's understood the left-sided defender has been pushing for a move to Scotland this week however and is keen to come to Glasgow.
And according to transfer guru Sacha Tavolieri, Mendy is poised to undergo a medical TOMORROW after the clubs agreed on a £2.5million deal.
It's also reported that Betis have inserted a 20 per cent sell on clause as part of the negotiations.
Mendy, 20, was signed by Betis in 2023 after coming through the ranks at Paris FC.
He has primarily played for the club's B team however, making his La Liga debut in the penultimate game of the campaign (he had completed 90 minutes in a Europa Conference League match earlier in the season).
Mendy can operate as a left-sided centre-back or a left-back, giving Martin another option on that side of his defence.
